Falling off the Wagon

Everyone has heard about it or done it. Losing that habit that you use to do that was to better yourself. Not something anyone likes to admit has happened, but the reality is, it does. The silver lining to this is that it’s not permanent.

Growing up being active in sports throughout high school and college you figure that it will be apart of your life for forever. This was my mindset because it was something I loved. Showtime even made it easier to keep the ball rolling being around Nick and the other trainers as well as going to strength clinics and helping with powerlifting meets. Lifting weights and fitness would always be a priority, right?

Even with all these things I had in my favor, I let  all the other things going on in my life to slowly take over my time and away from my vision and goals for myself and health. Was I still lifting and doing some of those things I did before. Yes, but the consistency and intent of those workouts were not close to what I really needed it to be. Even after knowing I had got away from the habits I knew I needed to get back to, I kept falling farther away.

Everything seemed more important than making myself healthier and strong. Even sitting on the coach looking mindlessly at my phone was above getting something in. This became even harder when my son was born. Ever moment he was awake was watching him and when he would nap I would just relax as well. Not taking advantage of the time to get something done.

Realizing my son’s energy was just going to increase and a second baby on the way, I knew I needed to better myself to be there and have fun with my kids the way I want to. I can’t wait until I throw my back out trying to pick them up.

One decision I made was to see if Nick could use my help again with Showtime. Getting back around people with health and fitness as a priority. Finding those people that inspire you  to be better everyday because that’s what they’re doing. So far so good.

The reason I share my story is that I feel like many adults fall into a similar type of situation. Life changes as we get older. We become more stationary and move less and less. I found that getting around others that are doing the things you want to do really helps jump start yourself.

I may be biased in this statement, but I’ve seen Showtime be a great place for kids, teens and adults to better themselves and we have built a great community and support system for our clients. No better place to jump back on the wagon.
