Fitness Myths to go Away in 2022

Over the years, we’ve seen a lot of bad information. Some of which can be dangerous and some just made up out of nowhere. Here’s the top 5 that need to go away this year.

Fruits are Bad - If you talk to anyone who says fruits are bad due to the carbohydrates in them, walk away or better yet run. Fruits also contain a lot of fiber, can provide great energy, great for immune system health, and a much healthier option to having a sweet snack.

Can’t Eat X Food- Fill in the blank with food of choice, but our point is simply that eliminating certain foods from your diet can be an issue. Instead of eliminating something from diet completely, figure out the best way for you to have it a part of your diet in moderation while still achieving goals.

Lifting Makes you Bulky - Strength training will improve body composition which will also lead to a better fat burning response than just doing cardio training on the treadmill. More muscle = more fat burning.

Run to Lose Weight - Running might be the worst way to lose weight. Overweight + Weak Muscles = Extra Impact on Joints. Walking does wonders for the waist line and mental clarity. It’s the closest thing we have to a miracle drug and none of the stress of running. Start at 10-15 minutes a day and over time gradually increase the pace or time and distance.

Fat Loss Supplements - Fat loss is achieved through a calorie deficit, activity, and time. Fat loss supplements feed into our desire for a quick fix. No pill will make you lose weight fast. Even performance enhancing drugs can’t get some of the results promised by fat loss supplements. Your best bet to weight loss is a better lifestyle. Most weight loss supplements are essentially caffeine pills.
